Claire Lake is ‘Clearly Creative’ a West Yorkshire fused glass artist with her studio in Ackworth producing individually made pieces. Originally she studied ceramics and her move to kiln fused glass opened up new possibilities with colour and light whilst retaining the excitement (but sometimes the apprehension) of transforming her ideas in kiln firings.
This’ Loosely Sushi’ range was developed in 2021 and, as its name suggests, can be used for a variety of foods from snacks and starters to mains and desserts. Each piece involves trapping glass powders between two layers of glass to create the vibrant colours then, on the surface layer; hand painting with glass enamels positioning glass rods before a first firing at 840C to fully fuse all the layers together
A second firing then uses moulds to shape the glass. Reactions can occur, matt or glossy areas can result, bubbles are sometimes encouraged and no two pieces will ever be alike making your dining experience as unique and individual as your space.
Pieces are generally made to order so please allow time once you have made your selection.
